Back to a more eastern European country...and i love it! Krakow is cheap, its old and its beautiful. The weather was once again rainy and cold but we still managed to do a bit.
We went on a day tour to Auschwitz & Birkenau which was an incredible, but a very sombre experience. Walking around the concentration camps, walking into an original gas chamber, seeing posessions such as toys, clothes, shoes, suitcases from prisoners, seeing bundles of hair from prisoners and knowing that each item held an identity behind it was so incredibly sad.
While Auschwitz was the main reason for going to Krakow, we also visited the castle as it was originally the royal capital. The castle is so old and beautiful...without too much reconstruction ruining it.
sadly this didnt leave much more time...but it is a place i would like to go back too. we are now back in germany for another week.

Germany
Hope you all liked the few select photos i put up...it is probably time i gave another update though.
Leipzig ended up being a relaxing stop over, we visited the Rathaus, the Battle of Nations monument & the Stasi Museum which was unreal. Its actually set in one of the Stasi offices where interrogation cells and real cells originally were and still are.
From Leipzig it was off to Berlin! I love Berlin, it is such an amazing city. It was really full on with site seeing, drinking & eating really good and cheap food. The city just has this awesome vibe. While in Berlin we visited the East Side Gallery which is what I believe to be the longest still remaining part of the wall which is cover in art work and goes for ages...its unreal to see. We went to the documentation centre, the Jewish Museum, the Holocaust memorial, Topography of Terror, Check Point Charlie, Brandenburg Gate & the Bundestag originally the Reichstag. The history that still remains combined with the new cosmopolitan city is amazing.
Next was OKTOBERFEST in Munchen. Well actually first I had to drag rac to the shops to buy my own dirnl (a traditional dress worn in Bavaria) which I found within an hour and its so pretty! But then it was 2 days of delicious beer, german songs & dances and the most amazing people!
To finish off our first German visit, we spent our last night in Fussen where we visited Neuschwanstein Castle which was beautiful both inside and out.
Next in line was Poland...

The last week...
From Belgium we took a train up to Amsterdam where we stayed for 4 nights. The weather was again rainy so we took advantage of that and checked out the coffeeshops and local food,..
From there we went to Cologne and had an awesome time...heaps of site seeing eg the Nazi Documentation centre, Thel Ludwig Museum, The Chocolate Museum :D, The Sports & Olympics Museum & The Dom (which is amazing...google it). We also spent a lot of time enjoying the night life...Germany has really good beers and Cologne has a really good student night life.
We are now in Leipzig for another 2 nights before heading to Berlin...

Spain/Belgium
Spain ended just as awesome as it started. We had a Paella night at the hostel...which ended up being the cheapest and most delicious paella...topped off with Sangria! We visited the Archivo General De Indias which had original maps from Christopher Columbus, we visited the cathedral where his official tomb is and climbed the Giralda Tower. From there it was back to Madrid for the night before flying to Belgium.
Brussels is amazing! In the three days we have been here we have eaten & drunken ridiculous amounts of fries, waffles, stoofvless, chocolate and beer. Ther friterias here are so good and we went to the pub which hold the guiness world records for the number of beers it serves - 2004! We have also day tripped to Ypres (iper)and saw the Menin Gate which is a memorial for soliders of the commonwealth from the western front & also visited the Tyne Cot Cemetary which is the the largest british empire military cemetary. It was incredible to see...
